Step into 18th-century Philadelphia and meet Elizabeth “Betsy” Ross, the Philadelphia upholsterer whose name became forever connected with the story of America’s first flag.

Through first-person historical interpretation, storytelling, period costume, and audience interaction, Betsy shares the story of her life, her work, and the famous flag-making tradition that has captured imaginations for generations.

Living history has long been part of the journey behind Wandering Drama Company.

Founder Betsy Modrzejewski’s background includes working as a historical interpreter at Colonial Williamsburg and as part of the Education Team at The Henry Ford Museum in Michigan. Those experiences helped shape an approach to history that goes beyond presenting facts—inviting audiences to ask questions, make connections, and encounter the past through story and participation.

Today, that foundation comes together with years of experience in theatre, education, and creative drama to create living history programs that are engaging, interactive, and grounded in thoughtful interpretation.
